Showstoppers

We survived our first dance competition! Learned lots of new rules.

1. You can never have enough "bling" in dance. Rhinestones look great in the hair, glued on your cheeks, all over the costume.

2. There's no such thing as "meal time" at dance competition. You snack all day when you have a free minute.

3. You'll have a finger poke a hole in at least ONE pair of tights during the week-end. I'm keeping Capezio in business.

4. You can win a dance division without wearing a skimpy Las Vegas showgirl style costume.

5. Sleep is scarce. They start early and end late. You'll be up at midnight taking off show makeup and peeling false eyelashes off.

6. Ultra Sheen makes the hair look incredible on stage, but you need liquid dish soap to get it out at the end of the day.

7. Velcro works great for hair decorations. Twist it in the hair and it's on there for the day.

8. Forget trying to carry a purse. You'll be constantly setting it down to do something and afraid you'll forget it.

9. Costume moms have to have control and you stay out of their way in the dressing room.

10. It's a really long day, but so much fun. It's great seeing all their hard work come together on stage.
