4th of July

Went down to Killeen to pick up Aunt Eleanor and then went down to Burnet to see Andrea and John set up the fireworks display. Had a great dinner with John's friends. Aunt El had a good time seeing A & J and all the party stuff. She even hitched a ride on a cart with a really good lookin' guy.

Spent the night in Killeen and then the rest of the day running around with Aunt Eleanor. Got back to The Colony about 8:30pm. Went out to Stewart's Creek Park to watch the fireworks.

Dancer's Dream Duffle

This is the coolest duffle bag on wheels. It has a clothes rod that you pull up to hang your costumes on. It will be fantastic for recitals and competitions.

Sandy Lake Music Festival

Listening for the thunder in the background... along with flashes of lightening while they sang. We were all watching the flags and tent sides sway in the wind.

Sandy Lake Music Festival

The sun came out and the power was back on around 12:00. Enough time to do some rides before heading back to school.

Sandy Lake Music Festival

Amid the lightening and thunder.... they still sang their hearts out and earned a Division I rating.

Showstoppers Dance Competition

Solo Awards from Sunday afternoon

Erin and Alli at the awards ceremony

Sharing a snack between dances

FUNKOLOGY!! They brought the house down with their tap routine.

Erin's Tap Solo dress

Showstoppers

We survived our first dance competition! Learned lots of new rules.

1. You can never have enough "bling" in dance. Rhinestones look great in the hair, glued on your cheeks, all over the costume.

2. There's no such thing as "meal time" at dance competition. You snack all day when you have a free minute.

3. You'll have a finger poke a hole in at least ONE pair of tights during the week-end. I'm keeping Capezio in business.

4. You can win a dance division without wearing a skimpy Las Vegas showgirl style costume.

5. Sleep is scarce. They start early and end late. You'll be up at midnight taking off show makeup and peeling false eyelashes off.

6. Ultra Sheen makes the hair look incredible on stage, but you need liquid dish soap to get it out at the end of the day.

7. Velcro works great for hair decorations. Twist it in the hair and it's on there for the day.

8. Forget trying to carry a purse. You'll be constantly setting it down to do something and afraid you'll forget it.

9. Costume moms have to have control and you stay out of their way in the dressing room.

10. It's a really long day, but so much fun. It's great seeing all their hard work come together on stage.

Funkology

Rehearsal for Funkology at the sleep-over on Tuesday evening. The dance isn't finished, but looks pretty good. Can't wait to see it all the way through with costumes. Erin's in the pink shorts.

Spring Break

Time to catch up now that Spring Break is over. Lots of dance rehearsals, so no rest for the weary. Erin has Middle School band and schedule sign-ups this week. School seems to go so fast once we finish March. It's birthday week for us. Where should we go out to eat??

Love Out Loud

The DYTE Tap Review was awesome!! All of the dancers and vocalist did an outstanding performance. Loved the outfits and the acting. Here's a few pictures from the evening. Will post more as I have time to edit them. Only took about 900 pictures between the dress rehearsal and the performance.
